Happy New Years

Happy New Years everyone. I hope this transition into the New Year has brought necessary renewal and introspection. I started my year with sleep tbh, but also a poem called Rotations. I always find myself wondering what’s next as the year closes and I always reflect on the things and people that have passed on and the feelings that went with them. Sometimes it freaks me out to feel like I’ll never get those people or feelings back, but it helps me to remember that time is non linear, and you don’t have to spend it in purgatory or mourning. You will gain the things you’ve lost. Everything that is supposed to be yours will come back; and if it doesn’t it doesn’t mean you’re not worthy of those things. I don’t know what it means when you lose things and people that don’t come back. But this poem reassured my spirit that what is for me will always be, as long as I believe I deserve it.

Rotations

Everything comes

Back

In due time.

Linear as time

thinks it is,

It is only time when it’s measured.

Outside of these lines

Are the places we’ve come to live.

Outside where the wind pauses

And our breath waves in our faces.

Outside the cradles of my eyes,

Where your smile waltzes in my dreams.

Outside—where love takes its time crossing the street,

And doesn’t look both ways.

Time knows everything stops for love.

And it will return,

Let’s count until

It crosses

Our minds again.
